About IA Court

  • Operates 24/7, 365 days/year
  • Handles felony and misdemeanor initial appearances every 3 hours
  • Reviews:
    • Most search warrants in Maricopa County
    • Nearly all DUI blood-draw warrants statewide
    • All ex parte child removal orders in Arizona

IA JPT Role Highlights

  • Challenging and rewarding work that builds experience and serves the community
  • Covers weekends, holidays, and night shifts (often on short notice)
  • Shifts are typically 10–11 hours
  • JPTs fill in for 8 full-time IA commissioners
  • Requires:
    • Strong criminal law background
    • High schedule flexibility
    • Significant availability
    • Completion of ~1 week of training
