Orders of Protection

An Order of Protection is a type of restraining order. It is a court order meant to help protect you from someone in your family or household who has:

  • Hurt you physically
  • Threatened to hurt you
  • Abused a child

An Order of Protection can stop that person from contacting you.

How to Get an Order of Protection

You can fill out a request for an Order of Protection online through AZPOINT (the Arizona Protective Order Initiation and Notification Tool). AZPOINT guides you step-by-step through the process, like an interview, to help you complete your petition.

To qualify, the person you are asking protection from must be a family member, someone you live with, or someone you have a close relationship with.
