Community Comes Together to Celebrate National Adoption Day

PressEvent to take place on Nov. 18 at the Durango Juvenile Court Center
WHO: The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County
WHAT: To promote National Adoption Day and raise awareness for the more than 113,000 children nationwide in the foster care system waiting to be adopted, the Judicial Branch is inviting the media to attend its National Adoption Day celebration. The event will include the finalization of nearly 90 adoptions during formal court hearings and a carnival-like atmosphere outside the courthouse.
WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 18 – 9 a.m. to noon
WHERE: Durango Juvenile Court Center, 3131 W. Durango in Phoenix
INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES: Tiffany and Brandon McClure, who will be adopting nine-year-old Michelle, will be available for interviews. Michelle, who was in foster care, was one of Tiffany’s students at the Children’s Center for Neurodevelopment Studies. Juvenile Department Presiding Judge Lori Bustamante will also be present to speak with the media. VISUALS: The media is invited to film the McClure Family adoption in Courtroom 11 at 10:45 a.m. on Nov. 18 as well as festivities outside the courthouse and other court hearings upon request. The family, state officials, judicial officers and others will be present as part of the formal adoption finalization where Michelle will officially join the McClure Family – along with nearly 90 other kids.
