After 20 years of serving the people of Maricopa County, Judge Scott McCoy retired from the Superior Court on July 7.
Judge McCoy, who was appointed by the Governor in 2009, served in the Criminal, Family, Juvenile and Civil Departments. Prior to becoming a judge, he served as a Superior Court commissioner for four years.
Before joining the Court, Judge McCoy worked for Jennings, Strouss & Salmon from 2000-2005. He also was an associate and partner with Kirkland & Ellis from 1993 - 2000 and served as an associate with Beus, Gilbert & Morill from 1990-1991. Judge McCoy began his legal career as a judicial clerk for the Hon. James Moeller at the Arizona Supreme Court.
He earned his Juris Doctorate, Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1990 and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Cum Laude, in 1987, from the University of Southern California.
