Lower Court and Admin Appeals Presiding Judge
Patricia Starr was appointed as a Judge in 2014; she served as a Commissioner from 2011 through 2014. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Starr worked as a Capital Staff Attorney through the Arizona Death Penalty Judicial Assistance Project, assisting trial judges statewide with death penalty cases. Before that, Judge Starr was a trial and appellate prosecutor for fifteen years, with both the Office of the Arizona Attorney General and the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. Judge Starr served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jefferson L. Lankford of the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division One. Judge Starr is the Associate Dean of the Judicial College of Arizona. She previously served on the Arizona Commission on Judicial Performance Review, State Bar Conflict Case Committee, State Bar Committee on Legal Services, and Editorial Board of the Arizona Attorney.
