After serving more than two decades on the Superior Court Bench, Judge Michael Gordon retired on May 29.

Judge Gordon was appointed as a judge in 2005 - enjoying a distinguished career where he served in the Civil, Family and Criminal Departments.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as a Superior Court judge,” Judge Gordon said.

Prior to joining the Bench, Judge Gordon served as trial and appellate counsel at the Office of the Federal Public Defender (2001 – 2005). He also worked as an associate attorney at Quarles & Brady (2000 – 2001) and Lewis & Roca (1991 – 1993).

From 1998 to 2000, Judge Gordon taught law school. He was a visiting associate professor of law at Arizona State University and an assistant professor of law at the University of Mississippi School of Law.

Judge Gordon earned his Juris Doctorate, Summa Cum Laude and Order of the Coif, in 1989 from the University of Arizona College of Law and received his bachelor's, Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa in 1985 from Arizona State University.
