Interested in gaining valuable experience through our Detention Tutoring Internship Program? Learn more about the opportunities available below. Applications are reviewed approximately two months prior to the start of the Fall and Spring semesters.
This program offers interns valuable experience working directly with detained youth in several meaningful ways.
Detention Tutoring Interns primarily provide supervised one-on-one tutoring to youth in a classroom setting, supporting subjects at the elementary and high school levels, including G.E.D. preparation and assistance with high school diploma coursework.
Detention Tutoring Interns will be given the opportunity to create and facilitate a one-hour activity or interactive class involving a topic related to positive youth development in a classroom setting.
Interns gain insight into collaborating with Detention professionals and learn what it means to work within a secure care environment.
Interns engage in daily supervised direct contact with detained youth, helping to build trust and positive relationships.
When time allows, interns assist by responding to youth stories on this online learning platform designed to address unmet criminogenic needs for justice-involved youth.
Detention Tutoring Interns tutor detained youth one-on-one in a classroom environment while working on a team.
