The Adult Probation Department helps people on pretrial and probation supervision follow the court’s orders and make positive changes in their lives. The department offers guidance, support, and programs that help individuals build new skills and stay on the right path. Its work also helps keep our communities safe and strong.
The Adult Probation Department has three main bureaus. Each bureau has a different focus, but all work toward the same goal to help people on probation make positive changes while keeping the community safe.
The Pre-Disposition & Administrative Services Bureau provides support for people who are waiting for the Court to decide on their release or sentencing. This includes individuals who may be eligible for pretrial release, those who need electronic monitoring, people involved in court proceedings, and anyone waiting for a final decision in their case.

This bureau focuses on accountability, rehabilitation, and enhancing public community safety by addressing risk and the root causes that led to one’s involvement in the criminal justice system.

The Specialized Services Bureau helps people on probation who are facing challenges with mental health, substance use, requiring more intensive supervision, assistance with literacy or vocational resourcing, or those returning to the community after being in jail or prison for a period of time. These programs promote recovery, build stability, and help individuals prepare for life after probation.
Learn MoreThe Frank X. Gordon Education Program helps people on probation reach their education and career goals. New students can sign up any time during the year, and each student must be at least 16 years old with a valid U.S. state-issued ID. The program is open to everyone in the community, not just those on probation. At the FXG Education Centers, students can prepare for and take the GED test, build thinking and problem-solving skills, learn how to get ready for a job and plan a career, and understand money management and budgeting.
